Great Central Railway (Nottingham)

September: No standard train services currently running (save as below), although its ‘Road Rail Ale Festival’ for Friday 6 to Saturday 7 September is advertised, at £15 entry for adults only.
Note: The Great Central Railway (based at Loughborough) was advertising that its ‘Autumn Diesel Gala’ would include for the first time since 2020, the operation of trains from Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre to Rushcliffe Halt, pulled by Class 20 D8154 along with a special guest locomotive. However this aspect of the Autumn Diesel Gala has since been deleted from its website, with reference now only to the limited service referred to below.
On or around 26 August 2024 GCRN’s website was up-dated to state the following:
‘For the first time since the pandemic passengers will be able to board trains at the Great Central Railway (Nottingham)’s Ruddington site and travel towards the main line……A class 08 locomotive and carriages will run an hourly shuttle from the platform at Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre to 50 Steps Bridge close to Asher Lane and back, a journey of around a mile. ’50 Steps’ is the site of the junction where trains will one day join the Great Central Main Line and run towards Loughborough.’
