Great Eastern Railway Society

About the Society

The Great Eastern Railway was one of the main pre-1923 grouping railway companies.

The Great Eastern Railway Society is a historical railway society dedicated to the Great Eastern Railway (GER), its predecessors and successors. It aims to promote interest in the GER by encouraging and co-ordinating research into its history, and to provide a permanent record of its findings.

The Society has a reputation of being one of the leading ‘line societies’ in the country with one of the highest memberships. This may well be a reflection of the very high quality of its Magazine as well as its Newsletter, and its emporium available to members which contains an extensive number of DVDs, CDs, downloads, magazines and photographs amongst other material, widely regarded as second to none amongst such societies.
